Cool Klonapin/clonazepam and hiccup fits

Hi,
I am on clonazepam the generic to klonapin and ever since I have been having these hiccup fits. and they go away for a little bit but then they come right back. I thought there was nothing I could do and it was just happening. Then some customer came in with hiccup fits that he was convinced came from his klonapin. Now, I am almost convinced that it is the medicince. Does anyone else out there take klonapin and know of the same experience? Please let me know!

Adam

Ive been on Klonapin for atleast 4 years and never had this problem...Maybe because its a tranquilizer, its relaxing something enough to give you the hiccups? I have no clue, but it could be a posibilty..Maybe your Dr. can prescribe you a weaker benzo..I'd ask him/her if that may be a thing to try. What are you using the klonopin for, panic attacts,GAD etc..?

Default why I use it

I use the generic klonapin because I have panic attacks sometimes due to a disability that I got in my adult life. I just think about the worst case senario sometimes and it sends me into a panic attack

I have the same problem Adam, and thats why I have been on benzo's for years...Just see if your Dr. will switch them up for you, something Ativan does'nt sedate you as much as klonopin, plus klonopins have a long half life..

Default my meds

Hey dave,
I would have never thought of this as a side effect of klonapin. I just thought I was getting these weird hiccup fits. Then someone came into my pharmacy and basically swore up and down that the klonapin caused him hiccup fits and it made me think about me. I am not sure if it is the strength of the medicine as much as the combination of the medicinces I am on. I am on oxycotin, oxycodone hydrochloride, topamax, and skelaxin all for pain. I usually need a larger dose of any medicine I am on for it to work.....so I don't know if it is like you said in the begining that the klonapin is relaxing something so much that it is causing the hiccups...I will ask my doctor the next time I see him. Thanks for your advice!

Adam
