Hi,
i'm new and this is my first post. i was taking 60mg
oxycontin three times a day and
oxycodone for breakthrough. i've been in severe constant sharp pelvic pain since the end of 2003 and the exact reason is still not known although there are abnormalities that may be the cause.
After gyn surgery and colonoscopy and bone marrow biopsies and nerve block injections - during and afterwards i was put on oxycontin SR because it worked the best for my severe pain. i was able to work and function normally.
Then about three weeks ago the pain management dr became upset with prescribing the oxycontin to keep the pain away and placed me on
Kadian- 100mg twice a day and IR
morphine breakthrough and is planning on weaning me off the meds entirely which is impossible for me to do because i'm still in severe pain.
The Kadian doesn't work nearly as well as the oxycontin worked for pain and is much more sedating. i'm going to be seeing another dr for help soon but for now -Has anyone taken Kadian?
My dr said this amount is equivilant 200mg Kadian a day
to 180mg of oxycontin a day. It doesn't work as well at all and the sedation is interfering with working and everything in my life now.
It's also twice the price as a months supply of oxycontin. Is there another brand that's just as good? i tried the generic and it didn't seem to do anything but give side effects- no pain relief at all.
weird question- sorry- but does Kadian change anything about BMs? -
besides the usual constipation i find that the color of my BMs are bright neon green- is that from the Kadian? Is there so much food coloring added to have an effect like this? Or maybe this is something else that i can't think of?
Again- i was just wondering and apologize for the gross question.

i wish that my dr believed and would help me with my severe pain. i don't know what i will do if the new Dr won't help by giving medicine that works. Since i've been on the Kadian i've been in pain- why i'm home now from work- and i'm in too much pain to be weaned off. It's also too sedating - much more than the oxycontin that worked.
Any ideas, answers,appreciated so much.
Thank you,
sophora
