Default I JUST WANT SOMETHING THAT WORKS!!!

i started Xanax 1mg 2 at a time at night, then sometimes 3, tops (i was a nervous wreck) about a month ago. switched to another Dr at the VA and all she'd give me is Ativan 1mg. 3 or 4 at a time would do little, then 4 or 5 together within a day or two did nothing. i found a private dr and he gave me Xanax 1mg's and 2 or 3 a night would be just fine for a few weeks. then my Ativan came back (from the VA) and i was taking them like candy for VERY LITTLE effect. (couldn't tell my VA Dr that i had seen a private phys. to get the xanax...) - I found a doctor who gave me 30 Valium 5mg (eq. to a Xanax 1, i think) and === i took a couple, then a few more, then more (over the course of the night) til the bottle was gone. with merely a little speech slurness and some dragging of the feet. seriously. stayed up late and was able to work (i design websites). 150mg of Valium and "nothing".

i understand these are all benzos, but Xanax and Valium are supposed to be the strongest. i've now gone three days with NO benzos and with no w/d. clearly i've a Tolerance to benzos, but wouldn't three days clear the system? Could a tolerance of 150mg Valium occur? with no withdrawals?

is there a similar sedative that i could ask for without a doctor exercising the demons out of me? (not Hydroxyz; i mean some low acting -barbital... (by the way, i don't drink, or smoke or eat liver).

anybody? is there a Doctor in the house?

thanks ya'll

Wow, what compelled you to eat all of those valiums?? And when you say "nothing" happened, what were you expecting to happen?? The reason the pharmaceutical industry replaced barbituates with benzos was because benzos are hard to OD on. They are a lot safer. The reason you didn't have any obvious withdrawl symptoms was because valium leaves your system really slow. It has a long half life. So you still had a bunch in your system working too I may add (whether you realized it or not). I think you need to talk with your doctor and let him know what he thinks.
Cheers,

i kept taking the darn Valium because i JUST COULDN'T BELIEVE THAT eventually they wouldn't eventually help me fall asleep, have SOME effect. Kind of a spite, "i can't believe this s***" kinda thing.

hence the reason 4mg of Xanax didn't even make me tired tonight?

if i intend to maintain a regular, responsible usage of someting like librium or xanax, how long would you think i'd have wait for my body to clear...?

if i said something to my Pro doctor about this he'd want to charge me 90.00 for a visit and give me Hydroxy**ne and Trazadone (awfully exensive), and say, "good Luck".

i'm gonna start looking in canada.

thanks again for your help and answers forthcoming... if you knew my past you'd understand the total lack of need of alarm here...

thanks for your honest opinion,
glenn

hi

I used xanax, after a nervous breakdown, for 2 months more or less, I can tell u, there are side effects, u need to stop working to feel everithin, i had some problems with an eye, i couldnt turn my eye laterally, i had some kind of electric charge on it, anyway i was feelin it quite a lot, I think if u dont have serious psichic problems u should forget and work on yourself mentally....will be a long ****....but. the only way.....the real healing is in our head believe me...just my head got me out, with thousands of selfassertions, u try.....or, more than take all that ****...drink a little of somethin!
