Default Help! Doctor Suddenly Stopping Adderall!

Hi all,

I've been taking Adderall for about 8 years now. Currently I am prescribed 3 x 20MG's of Adderall a day. My last prescription was only for 2 x 20MG a day, as my doctor accidently wrote for 2 instead of 3. I filled my last prescription on the 1st of April. I notified my doctor about a week ago about the problem and she had me come in on Thursday, April 19th to get the correct dosage. I had run out on the 17th and came down to get a prescription for 5 days from the secretary. I did so, but she also wrote it out for only 2x20mg a day. So I ran out this morning and had tried to fill my prescription last night, Friday the 20th. The pharmacists gave me trouble (went to 3 pharmacies) saying it was too early and they refused to fill it until the 22nd. Today I went down again and they said they had to call the doctor before they filled it. Well guess what she did? She called and told me that she feels that I need to come off of it because she's afraid I'm abusing it, which I'm not. She told the pharmacy to NOT fill the prescription and told me she doesn't feel combfortable prescribing it anymore. I've taken the medication EVERY day for 8 years.

She's not even willing to slowly take me off of it. I'm afraid of what's going to happen if I don't get it immediately. I fear for my safety, sanity and others, I just put 3 holes in my wall. If my doctor dares to section 8 me I have no doubt in my mind that something awful will happen. I would rather die than go into a hospitol.

If they told you the 22 and you come in on the 21 it would throw up a red flag for any pharmacist. This really is partly your fault.I'm sorry though that this has happened.Looks like you're going to have to get another doctor as this one definately won't order you anymore adderall......Dave

The thing is, my Doctor gave me the prescription on the 19th with the intentions of having me fill it right away. She called me for 20 seconds today and all she said was she's not prescribing it anymore. She wouldn't return my calls and she didn't tell me what to do to deal with the withdrawals ect. I already put 3 holes in my wall. She did talk to my mom without my consent (I'm 19 years old) and talked to her about the whole thing. She violated my rights to privacy and she's completely neglecting me as her patient. I know she has the right to stop prescribing the medication (within reason) but to take me off cold turkey for no reason besides for her "not feeling combfortable" prescribing it anymore. I did not get refered to another psychiatrist and I did not get ANY instructions on how to come off of it. I don't have a PCP anymore, as I saw my "kid doctor" (sorry, I can't concentrate whatsoever right now) until I was 19.

Can I go get my prescription back from the pharmacy and fill it at 12am on the 22nd at a different pharmacy?

I called the crisis center at a nearby hospitol and they told me to go to a walk in medical office tomorrow and see if a regular doctor will prescribe it to me.

I've taken Adderall for so long and I'm not going to stop taking it. I cannot deal with life without it, as I've tried before and couldn't take it.

If anything happens to me in result of the withdrawals, is it her ass that I can go after?

I always make sure my scripts are correct before i leave my dr's office. One time she prescribed a wrong dosage and i caught it and it was no big deal. This is what you should have done since she had already mis-wrote it once for the 2X a day instead of the 3X a day....because obvioulsy you would run out before refill time. There are drugs you can get a couple days early and there are some you cant.Controlled druggs are like that for a reason. You can NOT try to refill them early because as Dave said it throws up a red flag.Thats why you make sure everything is correct before you leave your doctors office.I also know if there are certain problems your name can be flagged in the system as a prescription drug abuser so NO doctor will prescribe anything addicting. You have to be very careful.Hopefully this is not the case. But it also sounds to me like your doctor does not have your best interest in mind. This is very sad that she did this.My doctor will let me come in even if i have no money and give me samples or do whatever he can to make sure i feel the best i can.The situation sounds suspicious, the scripts were wrote wrong, but you also tried filling them several places early I really think you need to find a pcp that you feel comfortable with and explain the situation.Best of luck and for gods sake leave the walls alone!
