Hi. I am a new poster here but have been reading these forums for sometime now. 6 months ago I had several painful kidney stones. I got pain meds and finally passed them. The problem I had was sleeping. I know it is wrong but a friend started giving me Xanax to help me sleep. They worked fine at first (I only took 1mg at bedtime) but now I fear I am addicted. Sometimes I have to take half a tablet at work as well as a full one to sleep. My question is if I go to my doctor and explain my situation does he have to keep it confidential? I want to stop the Xanax but have read horror stories about stopping cold turkey. I want to taper off but am afraid to tell my Doc. Must he keep it confidential? Please do not lecture me, I know what i did was wrong and I want help. thanks

I think every doctor has the responsibility of keeping their patients' information confidential.

Please see a doctor as soon as possible to tackle with your xanax addiction and sleeping problem.
