Default Halcion?????

I have been suffering from insomnia for almost 3 years. I was taking ambien cr, but my insurance no longer covers it. My doctor gave me a script for Halcion. Has anyone ever taken this drug. If so, how good is it for sleep? Please let me know. Thank You. Kevin.

This is supposedly a decent drug for insomnia, but it's officially meant only to be used short term. It also has precautions against some severe allergic reactions that you'll have to monitor for. Maybe this is okay for a brief time, but I'd think you'd want to see if your insurance formulary includes any other sleep aids, rather than just a benzodiazepine. (Halcion is related to Valium and Xanax, which are benzodiazepines.)
