Default Gout

Physician has prescribed METHYLPREDNISOLONE 4MG to treat the cause. However, he has also has me taking ALLOPURINOL 300MG. Somewhere I read that the steroid should not be taken with the ALLOPURINOL, but am unable to find that resource again. Would like to know whether should be taking them both.

Hi Richard
You can take both of these at the same time. Methylprednisolone & other corticosteroids are often used during an "acute attack" of gout, to manage the inflammation and pain. This is usually just a temporary measure, but the allopurinol will help to prevent an acute gout "attack" in the future.
