I started this drug a few days ago and I have been experiencing alot of back pain and also pain in the chest and shoulders...can any one relate to this...is this normal? Or should I contact my Doctor? thanks

I started on Fosamax 70 mg weekly about 3 months ago. I got off after 6 weeks due to lower back pain, and arthritis in my left hand. This pain was unbearable and I have a really high threshold for pain. I have been off of it for about 6 weeks and the arthritis has resolved itself, but I still have a bit of pain in my lower spine (which is where my bone density scan showed as being osteopenic).

I am replying to msgs posted a number of months ago on Fosamax. I can relate to the pain and arthritis that I developed only after starting to take this drug.
Has anyone tried the other meds available for osteoporosis?
