Default Effexor XR

Hi everyone -

My doctor just prescribed me Effexor XR 150mg capsules twice a day, for drug resistant depression. I've been on pretty much every other antidepressant out there, with limited-to-no effect. I'm supposed to start taking the capsules with my current med (Prozac) for a few days and then work up to 300mg Effexor. I've also been taking Ritalin as a "booster" for the meds (which has been a huge relief and help for me with the Prozac).

Anyway, I've heard a lot of negative stuff about Effexor, so if anyone has had positive reactions I'd love to hear your story! Or any negative...anything you have to share at all would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks so much and hope all of you are well.

My first question is whether the same dr is prescribing all of these medications. Is that the case?

I would suggest that you go to the top of this page and scan across the top towards the upper right hand side of the page until you see the drug interactions checker. It's just above the drug search button. Click on the interaction checker and follow the instructions. Run a check on these three medications as well as any others you are taking.

There are both major and moderate potentials for interactions here. I am a little concerned actually. That is why I asked if the same dr was prescribing everything. You should read what is listed on the interaction checker and I would ask my dr about this. It may be okay for you but knowing that one dr is prescribing all the meds would make me a "little" less apprehensive. God bless.
