EFFEXOR withdrawls? I never missed any I don't know what is going on with me, but I take 450mg of Effexor every morning when I get up. I have been taking Effexor now for about 12 years or so.
I have tried to quit in the past by weaning off them but that was almost impossible as the withdrawl symptoms were terrible. I feel sorry for my family having to put up with me. I had to start taking them again.
I haven't tried to wean off them now for months, so I shouldn't be having withdrawl effects at all.
Starting at supper time each evening, I start getting dizzy and hearing those zappy things you hear in your eyes or head and feeling really sick to my stomach.
So the next morning I get up I take my meds and then it starts all over again...around supper time I get those withdrawls for some reason.
I told my doc this and he just says that I must have missed a dose...which I never did.
Do you suppose that the drug companys could have made a bad batch of these pills?
This feeling of withdrawls have been going on now for about 2 months.
I take other medication with these, but I never added any new meds, or stopped taking any.
If anyone else feels like this please let me know....
I have searched and searched on the internet for this topic and I can't find anything. I called my Phamarist and she never heard of that happening before....
I hope someone out there can help me out a bit... -
Reading your post: it's funny, SSRIs are a medication our bodies become 'addicted' to just like a pain med, but nobody talks about this; no alarm bells are set off by this reality. But it is terribly true, the body becomes very dependent on SSRIs and it is just as difficult to 'get off' as are pain meds. Though of course, it's entirely possible.
I would suggest that your body is metabolizing the medication quickly and has become 'tolerant' of your dose. By evening time your body is 'coming off' the med, and you are experiencing this withdrawal. My suggestion would be to try and take half (or a portion) of your dose at evening time - slightly before those symptoms set in. See if that makes a difference. That would be my first hypothesis over a bad batch of pills...though again, anything's possible.
But try that - again - taking the 'latter portion' of your dose slightly before these symptoms set in.
In the long run...maybe you should try switching to another med. I've tried them all and have always like Remeron the best. (just an added opionion.) Good luck. melee
