drug tests for chronic pain patients I heard thur the grapevine that in some states "chroinc pain patients " using methadone as primary ,are being dope tested to ensure the are using meds and not sharing ,anybody heard of this in Canada ?
thanks in advance for input -
I don't know about Canada, but it wouldn't surprise me, it is common practice in pain management clinics in the US, they check to make sure you are being cooperative and taking your meds as prescribed, not selling them and not taking too much or adding stuff you aren't supposed to be taking either. verwon@gmail.com
My information is not guaranteed correct. I do not get them right all the time, but I do enjoy the hunt~ -
If your talking about the methadone clinics then "yes" they will do test's to see what your serum level is.They can tell wether a patient has been taking all of their methadone or not.If they find a low serum level then they bring the patient down accordingly. We have a real problem here in Ontario with way to many people on methadone. The College of Physcians and Surgeons is right now reviewing and amending the rules and regulations for doctors and clinics. They have also brought in the College of Pharmacists and a couple methadone advocates.I have heard the new regulations will be out sometime next year.....Dave -
My doctor drug tests me once a month, although i am not on any methadone, right now 4 5/325 percs a day and 2 20mg oxys a day.
