Default doxycycline side effects

I recently started taking a perscription of doxyxycline. Shortly after (like the next day) I started having some mid to lower abdominal pain. Is this normal or related to this drug? Has anyone else experienced the same thing??

GI upset is a common side effect with most antibiotics. This is not an allergy. You can take this medication with a small meal or milk to reduce the abdominal pain. To help your GI system return to normal quicker after your antibiotic course you can eat 1 to 2 cups of "live and active culture" yogurt for a few days. Make sure it says live and active culture on the package, not all contain the necessary bacteria.

I took doxycycline to prevent infection with anthrax. We were told to take it on a full stomach. Otherwise, stomach discomfort, especially diarrhea, would result.

Milk is good, too, but sometimes not enough, depending on the person.

I ALSO WAS JUST PRESCRIBED THIS DRUG AND BEGAN SUFFERING ABDOMINAL PAIN MINUTES AFTER THE FIRST DOSE. I AM SICK TO MY STOMACH. HOWEVER, ANTACIDS AND MILK ARE NOT TO BE TAKEN WITHIN 2 HRS OF THE MEDICATION FOR IT LESSENS ITS EFFECTIVENESS.

SO ALTHOUGH IT MAY MAKE YOUR STOMACH FEEL BETTER, IT MAY NOT BE AS EFFECTIVE IF YOU TAKE MILK WITH IT.

I GET AN UPSET STOMACH ON A FULL OR EMPTY STOMACH. NOTHING SEEMS TO HELP???
