Doxepin/Sinequan capsule question Feel a bit silly asking this as a paramedic, but what the heck. I was prescribed Doxepin a while back and was taking 25-50mg nightly for a few reasons, not depression.
I called to get the 25mg refilled but only had 3 refills on the 150mg, and it had been so long I thought it was also a tablet and I would just cut it down. It's a darn capsule... so I can't chop it down to the dose I used to use. (I would call the doc to change the prescription, but oh how he loves to charge me.)
Does anybody know if it's fine to split the capsules? It's not an extended release med from what I can tell, and I was unable to take the 150mg because of the drowsiness the next day.
Thanks.
P.S. Its a blue/white capsule with par222 on each side if that helps. -
Doxepin capsules In order to decrease Sinequan, you should get your prescription filled at a compounding pharmacy. They will make it in liquid form, and you can wean yourself that way. I had to do this with a different medication and it worked. Good luck
