Default Doxepin???

Somebody told me it was a mind relaxant/sleep agent. But on other sites it says it's an antidepressant. Could anybody tell me what the deal is?

Doxipin belongs to a class of antidepressants called tricyclics. Tricyclic antidepressents all have a sedating properties and are aften perscribed for depression w/ associated anxiety or insomnia. Doxipin has one of the most powerful sedating effect of all tricyclics and I believe it is only perscribed for anxiety coupled with depression. Anyway, even someone who is neither anxious or depressed would still experience this sedating effect.
