Default dont like day 2 of lexapro

Hello All
Its been interesting reading.
I started Lexapro yesterday, 1/2 tablet another 1/2 today.
All day i have felt horrible. I've been on the couch with a cold wash cloth and eating ice chips. I dont think this stuff is for me. I had a few panic attatcks this month and great aniexty over them ever since so I saw my GP on firday to discuss the issue. I came home with many samples of the Lexapro. I just want to sleep tonight...is it OK to take a Simply Sleep? Also do I still need to worry about withdrawal only after two days? Should I take a 1/4 tomorrow and maybe for the next day before stopping all together? Any advice is greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Out of all the anti-depressents on the market, Lexapro has the least side effects. Most of the side effects are comparable to placebos. I wouldn't give up yet... you might think about switching from taking Lexapro before bedtime instead of during the day. Maybe you could take Melatonin for sleep?

I just hate to see you give up on this fantastic medication after only 2 days... let us know how it goes : )

If you are having a bad reaction, Dont continue taking the Lexapro!!!

I just quit after 3 of the worst days I have ever suffered through with that poison. The doctor today finally said to STOP. here's the brief story:

Day 1: 10 mg at 10pm with my normal lorazapam which has always helped me sleep through the night with no problems for a few weeks now. Woke up at 4am feeling quite odd and it went downhill from there. major anxiety, muscle twitching, burning palms of my hands and racing thoughts until 8pm. ack! bad bad bad, called the doc and said what the hell was this. he said it was a good sign, it was working and to stick with it. (!?!?!) ooooookay doc. i'll try.

Day 2: Decided to try 1/2, took it at 9 am and went for a walk; doctor had said yesterday when I called that if I was going to have a reaction it wouldn't make any difference between 5mg or 10mg, so at 9:30am i took the second half. Another awful day of anxiety and physical back pain plus the racing thoughts etc. finally felt halfway normal around 10pm, took the lorazapam and slept. funny reaction with dinner, it restarted the anxiety that had been tapering off.

Day 3: ok, today I'm just going to take the 1/2 and see; take it about noon and once again, the same symptoms, just not quite as intense and it tapers off around 9pm. I take my lorazepam at 10 pm BUT i can't get to sleep until midnight and then I wake up at 2:30am!!! never had this problem before taking the lexapro. I take a sonata at 3am to try and get some sleep and get back to sleep with vivid dreams and then wake up around 5:30 with anxiety off the scale, full body twitches, tremors, ugly thoughts, this is the worst reaction yet! i am barely able to get up at 8am and call the doctors office just able to get the words out : "tell the doc i am flipping out and to please call me".

To make a long story short, the doctor decided to say DONT TAKE IT ANYMORE. I will see a new psychiatrist this week but I am not thrilled with the idea of any more drugs like this.

LISTEN TO YOUR BODY AND TRUST IT WHEN IT TELLS YOU SOMETHING IS NOT RIGHT. NOT ALL DRUGS WORK FOR EVERYONE. a very good friend of mine was on lexapro for 3 months and just quit it with good results. my experience was horrible. there are no guarantees and if it isn't working for you, get off of it. good luck.

All anti depressants/anti anxiety medications take atleast one week for the really icky side effects to go away. Stick through it for atleast two weeks. If you broke out in hives, then i'd say don't take another pill ever, but every pill out there takes some getting used to. Except prozac, stay the hell away from it. haha

Hi --
Take a look at the Lexapro withdrawal site on this site.... Lexapro is deadly, and get off while you can... check out the website www.antidepressantsfacts.com (make sure the spelling is exact) to get more info on the danger of these drugs... I had a horrible reaction to celexa (lexapro cousin) that I was on for only 3 days, nearly killed me, and still struggling very hard to recover 3 months later... black outs, etc... these drugs are NOT what they tell you -- if you have anxiety or panic, it is caused by something else - sleep medication gives me horrible panic attacks, and since I have been off everything, have not had even the slightest bit of panic or anxiety-- your body knows how to deal with life, just let it!!! Couseling and prayer/meditation are the best... sleep will come eventually when you are off all the drugs for a while (that's what it has been doing for the past thousands of years anyways!!!!!)...
just don't want anyone to give these meds to you - it can kill...
blessings,
elizabeth
