i'm a well controlled epileptic-i take 1000 mg.tegretol daily.i also have chronic stomach pain with constipation.i have bouts with gastroenteritis,colitis,irritable bowel syndrome.will it put me at risk for a seizure if i take gi cocktails on a regular basis-the mixture is 30 ml maalox,10 ml donnatal,5 ml lidocaine viscous-g.i. cocktail.it's the only thing that stops the acute pain.i know there's phenobarbital in the donnatal,and if i quit taking the gi cocktails for a week or two,will that cause a seizure?

Tegretol (carbamazepine) metabolism is increased by phenobarbital so theoretically taking phenobarbital (in Donnatal) at the same time as carbemazepine has the potential to reduce the plasma levels of carbamazepine.
The interaction is generally considered to be mild but if you are at all concerned, it is worth talking to your doctor.
