    Question does suboxone decrease the affect of methadone

    while taking suboxone does it block the affect of methadone?

    Buprenorphene has a higher affinity to the opiate receptors then methadone.So yes suboxone will block methadone but it can still cause respitory distress or even failure so don't take the two together.
    If your switching to methadone then you can do it by stopping your suboxone and after about 5 days you can start the methadone.....Good luck.....Dave
