Default Dilantin and pregnancy

I am on Dilantin right now but there is a very good chance that my husband and I just got pregnent this week, so I have made all the apointments to talk to my doctors about this and everyone of them have taken me off of my medications except one. This doctor I like but don't really trust fully yet, and now he is telling me that Dilantin is safe during pregnancy.....I am not comfortable with that because I thought you could not take any medications during pregnancy expecially anti-seizure medications.....
If there is anyone that could help me figure this out....or maybe you took Dilantin while you were pregnant please write me. I have looked all over for this answer and I just coming up check with my doctor answers.

dilantin is a sticky subject in pregnancy. the general consensus is that the decision to continue dilantin is on a individual basis. if you have a know diagnosis of certain types of seizure disorders it is thought that stopping the dilantin can lead to seizures and when you seize while pregnant you run the risk of cutting the oxygen supply to the fetus. many doctors believe that this risk over turns the risk of complications from the drug. my advise is to make sure the doctor has experience with this. if it is a PCP, maybe seek consultation with a specialist (neurologist).
