Default Dibenzyline

This drug is quite an unknown, like those of "orphan drugs". In addition to side effects listed on web sites, it cause other effects, like swelling of the oropharnynx, tounge and gums. These side effects are with theraputic doses. I have experienced this as a patient and health care professional post diagnosis with Pheochromocytoma. Personally I find this to be a very dangerous medication, and would suggest that ANYONE, please ask your MD if there is another choice of alpha blockade that is more specific and with better control. Symptomatic shock, and excess lasituted is more common, and greater than discribed and may occur at any time during theraputic dosage during use. Despite having accheived effects desired. I have experinced Blood Pressuers of 50-60 systolic whithout warning or changing dosage after duration of achevied desired effects in controll of Blood Pressure after 6 days with "control of Blood Pressure". I was perscribed this medication and because of my backgound allowed to use this medication without hospital monitoring. It was a great mistake. How is it possibe to ask for assistance after you have awakened 5 hours later on the floor of your home, not recalling what it was you were doing just an hour after your timed morning dose ? As prescribed after the 6th day of theapy? It is possible to have changes in pressre, that's normal, but from 130/84, to 70/20 in 1 hours time, constitues pathological shock.
I urge you to chose wisely in medication or MD, whatever the case.

Thank you

I was so happy to read your message as i have been on dibenzyline for almost a year and have been having episodes of lost time( the first I came to consciousness at 4:00AM shampooing the rug in my bedroom with no recollection of what had happened since 12:00 pm and no idea of why I was doing that) with recent ones more often and more severe. I also experienced severe mental confusion, horrible nasal congestion, edema, chest pain and I could go on and on...upon stopping the medication one month ago the symtoms have all ceased and I once again feel myself. I was taking it as I have an unlocated Pheo tumor..how can this dangerous medication be allowed to be prescribed with no follow up and no warnings of the serious side effects that can happen...Judi
