Default demorol vs tylonol with codeine

yea so my mom just got surgery on her mouth and the dentist proscribed her demorol 50mg to releive the pain the pill is working with the pain but she is experiencing side effects and it is very unless pleasent so we herd that tylonol with codeine would be a good subsitute for the demorol is this true? If not what is? If so...

I wanna know the differences between them which is stronger and should she switch to the tylonol or stay with what the dentist said

I asked her dentist and he said "i dont know much about demorol" and said that if she is in pain to take 50m 50mg every 3hrs or as needed

Demerol is stronger then codeine. Compared to morphine demerol is .36 times as strong, codeine is .1 or 1/10th as strong as morphine, mg for mg.

If he doesn't know much about demerol then why is he prescribing it? Maybe ask for Percocet, it's about 1.75 times stronger then morphine.

Default Demorol Dangers

Sorry for the Title Typo;
Anyway, I have been and rarely still use Demerol PO for pain levels of 7-8. It is very dangerous and highly addictive! In fact, I just used it again recently after 2-years of non-need use. Now, I have actually experienced a level of pain that exceeded level 10 withdraw and it isn't pleasant at all. You would rather be dead than feel that agony! My doctor elected to make me wait and suffer for two hours before hooking me up with a drip. I honestly think I would have hurt him had he been within reach. At the time, this would have been autonomic in that state of torture.

Still, it remains as my last resort to keep me from going to the ER for an IM shot or I.V. solution. It has likely caused your mother cold sweats, involuntary mini spasms and a bit of a slight high. In my case of years of use, it will immediately cause a physiologic dependency but not necessarily an emotional dependency. It WILL also compromise her liver if used over an extended period. If at all possible, titrate off of it and seek a doctor for an alternative. I have found that even straight morphine is safer although it isn't as effective for pain (via PO), despite what doctors actually believe. I’ve been using these class-II meds for years and I know what I’m talking about.
Regards,
