Default Could I get addicted to Xanax in 2 weeks?

I took .25mg of Xanax every nite for 2 weeks. However, I stopped taking it like 9 or 10 days ago without asking my doctor. And about 1 week ago my vision turned blurry and Im seeing lights and floaters...also I feel very lightheaded, confused, dissociated etc. and have been feeling like this steadily ever since. Anybody think I could be having Xanax withdrawals?

That's likely what it is but don't fret, your over the worst. These effects can last up to six weeks.Just be glad you didn't have togo through a full blown benzo withdrawl. It can literally kill you......Anyway,good luck and carry on as normal......Dave

mpvt is correct, you are likely experiencing minor withdrawl symptoms due to stopping cold turky. No benzo regimin, even a small dose like yours, should be stopped cold turky, even after just a few weeks of taking it every day. A short taper period (say...one every other day or half a pill once a day down to half a pill every other day and then none) would help avoid the nasty (and as mpvt mentioned life threatening at larger doses) symptoms of withdrawl. And remember there is a big difference between dependance (your body growing dependant of having the drug after taking it regurlaly and a natural result of any long-term treatment with benzos) and addiction (anti-social and self-destructive behavior surrounding ones dependance on a drug). This is expected for anyone who is perscribed these medications regurlarly, there is nothing wrong with you and you are not a drug addict.
