Concerta is an extended release formula of
Methylphenidate, the same drug in Ritilan, Metadate, and a few other ADD meds. Methylphenidate is a mild CNS stimulent structurally similar to (but more complex than)
amphetamine and
methamphetamine. The symptoms you describe (crazy moods, mental cloudiness, etc.) can all be symptoms of amphetamine withdrawl, and I assume they are possible for Methylphenidate as well. Liturature concerning Methylphenidate (in all forms) often bear this warning about the drug: "Methylphenidate is an amphetamine-like drug and can be habit forming, leading to tolerance and serious physical and psychological dependence." certainly no dependence-forming drug should be discontinued abruptly after a long history of clinical use, as many unplesant symptoms (including those you mentioned) may occur. always talk to your doctor about discontinuing any perscription medication.
