Default Compound medications

A family member is using compound medications topically as perscribed by an M D to mitigate pain from periphial neurophy. The medications (ketamine and gabapentin) are approved for other uses but work in this application. Insurnace and their registry of approved drugs will not help with the full retail price being paid by the consumer. Any comments posted from those with similar circumstances, or who have references for use of these medications to treat this medical condition will be appreciated

I have taken Neurontin (gabapentin) for diabetic neuropathy for the past 5 yrs. My insurance (Blue Cross of Kansas) pays for the meds just like every other prescription I take. I remember the Dr. who first prescribed it told me that it was a drug for seizures but that it was being used for neuropathy also. I hope this information helps in some way.
