Is there any place I can find a comparison of the various Statin drugs? My insurance is making me switch from Pravachol to another one, because they won't pay for the Pravachol anymore. I'm concerned that there might be a problem between one of the others and the drugs I'm already taking for other problems. Also, I thought I had heard that some had different reactions than others. Since I have several different medical problems, I don't want to end up on something that will make them worse.

I'd also like to know if the dosages are the same. For instance, I'm taking 40 mg. of Pravachol; does that mean the comparative dose of Zocor or Lovastatin would be the same...40 mg.?

My wife is now on Lovastatin having from Liptor. Lavastatin is a generic. Her last cholestrol reading was 198 and she does not watch her diet.

Medco would LOVE for me to go on Lovastatin, because it doesn't cost them much at all! It was weird to find out that they had their own drug (Zocor) at the bottom of their recommendations, due to the cost of it.[:0] I just want to make sure I don't end up with more problems, because of changing to something that might not mix with all the drugs I'm already taking.
