 Chloramphenicol induced aplastic anaemia?
A patient is suffering meningococcal meningitis.
He is allergic to penicillins (with cross sensitivity to cephalosporins)
Chloramphenicol iv was used to treat the infection.
But now, aplastic anaemia has developed.
What are the alternatives of treating this patient???
Should i try to desensitize penicillin or use G-CSF to treat the aplastic anaemia??
