Default CAN LEXAPRO CAUSE HAIR LOSS....HELP!

HI Everyone,

Does anyone have experience with Lexapro? I already have lost so much hair due to a high androgen from adrenal gland, it is considered female pattern and since have lost hair have been severly depressed and have had thoughts of wanting to die each day is unrelenting worry about my hairloss and now isolation, have never been depressed before but have panic disorser, i am afraid teh lexapro will cause further loss and cant afford to lose the srrings i have now.

My doctor said he will no longer treat me if i do not take the lexapro, because he said he could not help me otherwise.

I am alreasy on Klonopin and proscar and dexamethsone i am so scared to take this drug, i had a very bad experience with PAXIL it caused worse aniexty and stopping it put my in the hospital for rapid heartgbeat and uncontrolable shakes when driving, i could have been killed on the highway but waws lucky to be near ahospital

any input or experience would sincerley appreciated

i think it is normal to be depressed for a woman to lose once beautiful long blonde hair, i disagree with the doc b/c it will only cause more fear of hairloss and weight gain too, I WILL JUST BE FAT AND HAVE 2 HAIRS BUT HE SAID WILL HELP ME COPE. I HAVE LOST EVERYTHING DUE TO THIS..JOB,REALIONSHIPS,SELF ESTEEM AND I COULD GO ON WITH A LOT MORE OF THE NIGHTMARE BUT I WILLL CLOSE FOR NOW. I AM IN TEARS AND SEE NO WAY OUT,AND I DOUBT LEXAPRO IS MY ANSWER.

I PERSONALLY HAVENT HAD ANY HAIR LOSS. I HAVE BEEN ON LEXAPRO FOR A YEAR AND A HALF. WITH NO SIDE EFFECTS. I HAVE DONE WELL ON THIS MEDICATION. I DONT KNOW IF YOUR OTHER MEDICATIONS MIGHT HAVE A DIFFRENT INTERATION THAN WHAT I HAVE. I WOULD QUESTION THE COMBINATION,

Depression is a tough disease to treat.

I HATED Paxil, gained tons of weight and Lexapro made me completely out of sorts........a zombie.........

I just started Wellbutrin XL and Clonopin at night.....

Sometimes you need to give these drugs a couple of months and make sure you're in therapy as well. There is no miracle "happy pill", you have to almost be a chemistry experiment sometimes to find the right solution.

Good luck.

Default Side Effects!

i have noticed no one is talking about HAIR LOSS.. I contacted the company that makes LEXAPRO and they told me that it could cause PATTERN BALDNESS.. It is on the tiniest print where it states ALOPECIA.. I have had super thick hair and recently grew it to a beautiful length and thickness and started to take Lexapro to cure anxiety and depression but now I am nore depressed than I ever was before.. because to go from beautiful to half bald is devastating for a woman who has all her life had issues with her hair and then to finally get your hair to look like you have always dreamed and have a drug ruin your beautiful locks.. Is really devastating! If anyone else has experienced this problem call the FOREST drug company at 800-678-1605 and report your problems with the drugs. I checked on the FOREST website and they have the side effects listed.. Celexa also states that you could experience ALOPECIA <<<PATTERNED BALDNESS.... I want to know if anyone wants to try to file a lawsuit...If so email me at carriebiz2007@comcast.net. I dont know if we can even do it but the more of us THE BETTER! I quit taking these drugs cold turkey yesterday and dont even care what happens as long as my hair stops falling out!

Smile Not sure that Lexapro causes hair loss~

Hi Nonnie~

I also take Lexapro and have noticed that I have been losing hair. I did some research and could not find conclusive evidence that Lexapro is the cause of my hair loss. It could be from stress or your diet or the chemicals that we put on our hair. I do color my hair and heaven forbid I would have to give that up because I would be all white haired! If I lost all my hair I would gladly wear a wig! No more worry about does my hair need a dye job or my hair is too thin! Do not stop taking the Lexapro! If I happen to miss just one pill or even take it later than usual it really affects me. It really sounds like your hair loss is from the high androgen from your adrenal gland.
I also take Tranzene for anxiety and cannot miss a single dose of that either! It may not be so fun growing old because we want to stay and look young in this youth oriented society but think of all the ways you could dress up your head! Like I said before I would gladly wear a wig or wear pretty scarves on my head! I had brain surgery years ago and had my head completely shaved. I was proud to go out and show the world what courage I had to undergo the type of surgery I went through! Try to think of positive ways to dress up your head~and short hair is so easy to take care of too!
Please try not to think in the past but think towards to the future! Take tiny steps...think about things you will be doing in the nest day or week. Maybe an outing with a friend, going shopping or go to see a movie. I volunteer a lot and just love it! It gives me the satisfaction of knowing that my time is well spent helping others. Please write back to let me know how you are doing!
