Question Breathing and Advair and Spiriva

Had a cold for a long time, started getting hoarse, started wheezing, went to dr. He said I had asthma caused from yrs of smoking and COPD.

Gave me a prescription for a) Advair 500mg b) Spiriva.

Fine with the Advair, I have taken it before. But the Spiriva was wierd. You have to inhale into this little device and you hear the medicine inside this little capsule vibrating as you breathe in. On the 3nd day of taking it (once a day) I got a terrible pain above my rib cage on my left side. I felt like I was having a heart attack. Lasted 5 minutes. Told dr., he was not too worried, but said if it happened again to get to the hospital. A couple of days later after thaking the daily dose I again experienced a very sharp pain, but this time in the middle of my chest. I immediately stopped taking this medicine.

Does anyone know about this medicine, or have they experienced this symptom with this drug? I am breathing fine without it, and don't want to do it if I do not have to.

I've been on Spiriva and Symbicort for a couple of weeks and it seems to be working OK. Spiriva is supposed to be the latest and 'better' medication?

spiriva works in a way that can make your heart speed up. the simple increase in heart rate can cause angina (chest pain) or percipitate a heart attack. if you experience a racing heart beat this could be the problem. talk to the dr.

there are no studies or evidence to show that spiriva with atrovent is anybetter.

Actually you should not take Advair if you have heart disease or high blood pressure... if you smoking a think it's you normaly condition. I think you need talk about with your dr.
