My husband is 33 years old & just started to take 40mg of Benicar to lower his blood pressure. My question is, "Does this drug cause impotence?" He's had it for about a week and was afraid to take it because he feared that it would cause impotence. Can someone please help me? Thx

What are the possible side effects of olmesartan?
• If you experience any of the following serious side effects, stop taking olmesartan and contact your doctor immediately or seek emergency medical treatment:
· an allergic reaction (difficulty breathing; closing of the throat; swelling of the lips, tongue, or face; or hives); or
· little or no urine.
• Other side effects are less serious and may be more likely to occur. Continue to take olmesartan and talk to your doctor if you experience
· diarrhea or upset stomach;
· dizziness;
· headache;
· insomnia; or
· congestion or cough (very unlikely).
• Side effects other than those listed here may also occur. Talk to your doctor about any side effect that seems unusual or that is especially bothersome.
