Default Been taken Dulcolax tablets after told not to

[font=Arial

Hi,

I found out that my partner has been taking Dulcolax constipation tablets for two years now. It's says on the information leaflet/website you can only take them for a week.
my partner since young has had problems with doing the toilet and they help her to go she has continued to take them, even after a doctor told her to stop taking them.

Does anyone know what damage they could cause to her body and why she can't take for a long time.

This is the website for the medicine.

Thanks Mudricky

I don't know about any actual damage you can get from taking laxatives.What I do know is that they become mentally addictive.After taking laxatives for a length of time they tend have a reverse effect making the bowel lazy.This in turn makes the user use more and more until the laxative is totally useless and is now working against the user......Dave

Actually, they aren't just mentally addictive, your body can become physically dependent on them as well, basically your body forgets how to move your bowels without them and you hit a point where you have to have them in order to have a BM.

When you suddenly stop taking them after prolonged use, you won't have a BM for a long time, and when you finally do, it will be hard as a rock and very hard to go.

OOps, sorry, Dave pretty well covered that, just not in my exact words, I didn't read his whole post.

My information is not guaranteed correct. I do not get them right all the time, but I do enjoy the hunt~
