Default Avinza/Morphine withdrawals....

I have been on Avinza for several months. I was up to 120mg and dropped it back to 90mg since the doctor said I was maxed out due to my severe asthma.

I write down EVERY single opioid I take. But I get busy and don't always take Avinza 24 hours apart. One Monday I took 90mg at about 8 am and took the next 90mg at approximately 10pm the following night. About 6pm I felt awful. By 10pm I thought I was dying. My wife asked me if I
taken the Avinza and I said no, I had forgotten it. I took it and the awful feelings went away. My doctor said I was approaching the first stages of Avinza/Morphine withdrawals.

I had never thought about "withdrawals" on it. My body apparently may have a "tighter window" for it than other people.

Has anyone on this forum had problems that might have been from morphine withdrawals? More specifically Avinza withdrawals?

Before you say it, due to respiratory constraints, Avinza does NOT stop most of my pain anymore. So being in pain is not a "trigger" to remind me to take the meds. I maxed out at 120mg, then decided to try to back off 30mg. That may turn out to be a mistake. Maybe I should just stay at 120mg. I don't know.

Any feedback appreciated....

Hi Dllfo: I agree that you should probably go back to 120mg.What you experienced was something anyone who is on a chronic pain opiate regime would feel if their serum level drops. This is called dependencey and has nothing to do with addiction.Actually to be honest with you most doctor prescribe Avinsa twice a day as most pain patients find that the pain killing qualities die off around 12 hrs so your doing pretty good.I really don't think you have anything to worry about as your not abusing them and your doctor knows whats going on.Good luck to you....Dave
