Ativan (generic name is lorazepam) belongs to the family of drugs called Benzodiazepines.
    You will find information at
    http://www.drugs.com/cons/Benzodiazepines.html

Taking a benzodiazepine and an opiate together may increase central nervous system side effects such as drowsiness, dizziness, confusion etc.
