Default Atenolol and diet pills-interaction?

Hi, doc did not want to give Atenolol if I take diet pills but did not say why. Only thing I could find on the Internet was that it may require a dosage adjustment with certain drugs, and one type of drug was a diet pill. Does that mean it will interact with it? If not, exactly what DOES that mean? Anybody know?

The reason I would take it would be for an irregular heartbeat. I am thinking, though, that since my heart tested ok (except for these supposedly harmless pre-atrial contraction things and a "little murmur"), I will just ignore the discomfort b/c the side effects are going to make me feel 80 years old instead of 29!
