Default Asthma med's and your teeth

I was wondering if there is anyone out there who could help me figure this problem out. My son is 3 and has been taking flovent for his asthma since he was 10 months old. He now has just had his first dentist checkup and has a couple of small cavities. Even though i brush his teeth at least twice a day, and he doesn't eat sweets. He eats alot of fruit and veggies, but hardly ever has any kind of candy.
I am starting to wonder if maybe his flovent is having an effect on his teeth. If someone out there has been through this or has any answers could you please help me!!

I haven't heard about this S/E pertaining to Flovent, but i think u might want to check with the dentist that u are brushing his teeth properly b4 considering if this is a S/E of the drug

Fruits also contain lots of sugars, so personally i think they are not different from candies in the role of causing dental cavities

Hope this may help

I don't really know if it is the flo ven or not. but you also have to remember that fruit has natural sugars in it that can cause cavities. Also, toothpaste for infants have no flouride in them and flouride is one of the ingriedients in toothpaste that help fight cavities. Hope this helps, but if you still are not sure what is causing the cavities, talk to your dentist or your pediatritian

I am an asthmatic as well. After using his meds, make sure he rinses his mouth. The meds can cause cavities, as well as white spots in the mouth, like a thrush.
If he isn't old enough to do it himself, wipe his mouth out with a very very wet cloth after every use of meds.

IMHO.

Default Dentists can find anything.

When I took my daughter to the dentist, he found 2 small cavities. I refused to have him fill those.

3 years later when she went to a different dentist, she had no cavities.
