Question Arthritis Medicine and Pregnancy

My husband and I are planning on starting our family within the next few weeks, but we're worried about the arthiritis medicine I am on called Mobic. Should I not take my medicine prior to getting pregnant to prevent any problems that may occur? Also, should I stop taking it during my pregnancy? Or am I freaking out about nothing?

It is recommended that you DO NOT take Mobic while pregnant. There are lots of reasons. I'm not sure of the exact point during the pregnancy process where this becomes so important. It likely wouldn't be an extremely critical factor prior to pregnancy but if you were my wife I surely wouldn't want you on it while trying to get pregnant. I am not a dr and this is too serious of a question regarding an unborn baby for you to be getting your medical advice from an online drug forum. I suggest that you discuss this matter with your OBGYN preferably.

Please understand that you shouldn't have to go without any medication for most arthritis problems. I say that without knowing the extent of your problems, if your arthritis is osteo or rheumatoid, or what all is involved here. That is why I suggest talking with the OBGYN. In most circumstances an alternate medication can be found for use during pregnancy. I would be interested to know what your dr tells you for the benefit of others who might post here in the future with the same question. Please let us know what the dr says after you meet. Good luck and God bless.
