Default Any one on strattera?

Hi,
My Dr. Has prescribed the medication for me. First off, I had back surgery at the end of last year and now have chronic pain. My blood pressure has been high, to me, since that time and I always dismissed it due to the pain. Even as my Dr. States. BUT, I go to a pyschiatrist who tells me that I need my Dr. to Monitor my BP. The highest its ever been is 159/95. My use to be normal, all the time was 120/75 or 120/80. thats it. So, yea, to me mine is high and I am a petite woman, not knowing if size matters, but when my pressure goes up, I can surely tell. I feel feverish, flushed...sooo, Ive just now read up on some info pertaining to Strattera and it indicated that If I have High blood pressure to consult my Dr. Should I not be taking this med at the moment until I get control over my BP? Gosh, Anyone's advice would be more then appreciated. I get soo many Dr's opinions and get really confused. My Primary Dr. told me I needed to stop obsessing over my BP!! UGH! while my Psychiatrist, who prescribes this for me tells me to have it monitored. (deep sigh) of confusion and frustration...Plus, its expensive and I could use the money instead of this drug. I want to tell my dr. I dont want it anymore and I hope he is willing to oblige.

Sincerely
Missy

Strattera may cause a mild increase in blood pressure (BP). This increase would not be a problem in a person with normal BP or high BP that is being controlled with medication. In your case, you need to determine if you have high BP. You can purchase a BP monitor from your local pharmacy and check your own BP at home. You want to take three measurements a day and take the average of these to determine your BP. You can take this information after 2 or 3 weeks to see if your doctor thinks there is a problem. BP standards are not affected by height. Assuming you do not have other health problems, such as diabetes, you will have the same BP goals as a taller person. Be sure to carefully read the instructions, improper use will affect the readings.
