    Default Another Methadone to Suboxone

    Hi!
I've been on Methadone for several years, but am switching to Bupe. My current Methadone dose is 55 mg., but I often take less. I went to the doctor today and received a prescription for Suboxone. Told her that I'd taken approx. 27 mg. this morning. She said, "wait 24 hrs., then take the suboxone".
With everything I've read, I am concerned. For instance, I think I should've been given Subutex, not Suboxone, which contains Naloxone. Stop me if I'm wrong, but won't this make me sick as a dog if I have any Methadone in me? [xx(]
Even with Subutex alone, wouldn't I need more detox time than just twenty-four hours, anyway?
    Thanks for your help!

You need to get down to at least a daily dose of 30mgs or less of methadone and are stable before you can switch over to suboxone. The nalaxone is not absorbed through the gut it's only there for I.V. abusers so don't worry about that. You're going to have extreme withdrawls if you are not stable at 30mgs or less a day on methadone.Take a couple months and come down and stabilize at 30mgs...Good luck....Dave

Thanks for responding, but sadly, time is not an option for me. I started a new topic, and you'll see where I'm at there.
