I would like to know if and how Maalox interferes with the absorbtion, interaction, and side-effects of Ambien.

I can't say if it interferes with maalox or not , but i would guess NO ,, You can find out on drug checker .com As far as side effects from Ambien it should only be used short term b/c its addictive.. You find all of a sudden you need it every night to fall asleep??/ Its funny how it works, it doesn't make you drowsy IMO just all of a sudden you are knocked out asleep... Taking it for a while and I would hate to guess how long but the withdrawal from it is no sleep go figure???? I took it for a short time to break the cycle of no sleep after sopping narcotics and it worked!!!! Terri

Hello,

Ambien on average is recommended only for 7 to 10 days. IT IS NOT a cure for the underlying problem of insomnia.

As mentioned, taking it for a extended period of time can lead to addiction as well as serious bouts of what is called "rebound insomnia". This type of insomnia can happen after only a few days of usage and then stopping the drug. I would imagine it is a real problem for people that have relied on it for "longer than suggested" time but again, each person is different and what may be a "side effect" for one may not be for another.

It would be best to determine the root cause of your sleep issues than to rely on any drug but, I do understand that there is a need for Ambien and as mentioned, I have taken it in the past and it has worked wonders.

More info can be found at:

www.ambien.com

Best regards.

J

I would not take Maalox within 2 hours before you take Ambien. No food either. Anything that will keep the drug from being absorbed by the stomach. I've been on it for 5 years. I am trying to get off of it now, just to see if I can and if I can fall asleep now on my own.
