Default Am I in danger ? Please respond.

I have been prescribed to Ritalin (Methylphenidate) 10 mg tablets for the past 6 months or so now. Currently I' am on 2 10 mg tabs, 3 times daily, for a total of 6 pills a day or 60mg's. I have started taking the pills intranasally since about 3 months ago, just for the buzz and the more effective feeling, and faster unset of the medication. I haven't noticed any negative effects yet, and I check my heart rate quite often which seems to be relatively normal... At a normal check after no physical activity its about 70-80 RPM, and about 80-110 RPM after physical workout, it may be up to 130 RPM (highest yet) after extreme intense work out. I' am 176 pounds, 6 foot 2, and 17 years of age, and I smoke on a daily basis. Can someone return a post to this, and warn me of any dangers this may have ?

Thanks,

Questions.

You need help. Find a doctor who cares and get some treatment.

You are fine while you can still manage to measure your heart rate. The problem is one day you may not - you are putting yourself at risk of cardiac arrhythmia.

Complications can also arise from snorting pills because insoluble fillers in the tablets can block small blood vessels in the nose.

If you're still on Ritalin by the time you see this message, you have a big but not necessarily overwhelming problem.

What you have described are signs pointing to addiction from what is now recreational (not therapeutic) drug use.

Since you have had the sense to make the posting, I believe that you have the sense to go into a good detoxification program. It's never too late.

But don't wait too long.

Best regards.
