Default Allopurinol

Does anyone know how common arthritis like symptoms are with this medication? My husband has been taking it for about two months after taking colchcine for YEARS. His pharmacist suggested the allopurinol might be a better choice for long term treatment. He still takes the colchicine for acute symptoms but the attacks are becoming much less frequent and are usually related to his consumption of certain foods (!)
Yes, he should know better. He had an acute episode a couple of days ago and used the colchicine and it passed but now he has arthritis like pain in the legs, with No other symptoms (swelling, redness etc)

This med is for the treatment of Gout which is a form of arthritis. So it is very possible to show signs of arthritis in his limbs. The major side effects I found related to arthritis are, abnormal intermittant pain, edema (swelling with fluid in area),and acute atacks of gout.
