Default All This medication!!

My moms old boyfriend, now she is his care giver, he's 40 years old, he is prescribed 24mg every 4 hours of Dilauded and Soma 4x, Valium 10mg 4x, and Effexor, Phenergan, Lasix, Nexium, he is allowed to have a 150mg shot of Demerol 3 times a week, smokes 3 packs of Marlboro a day and smokes a half ounce of pot a week! We think he is probably the most medicated person in the state, even with all the drugs he tells his doctors his pain is level 10 on the scale from 0-10!
He has had 24 surgeries in 10 years, we think he is addicted to operations and has Munchausen's Syndrome, he knows he will get drugs for post op pain. His doctors haven't pulled his drivers license, he lives by himself, about the only thing he will eat is drinking cans of Boost.
I really don't have a question, I thought I would share this with you all. Have you heard of anyone more medicated then him? He even runs out of pills before the end of the month. Can you believe doctors will prescribe this much medication to a person who isn't terminal? He is also mad at them because they won't give him liquid Morphine.

Cripes He Sounds Like A Freaking Zombie.

How Does Someone On That Much Medication Function?

And To Think I Thought My Sister Was On Alot... LOL

I Think The Doctors Need To Be Reviewed For Giving Him That Much...

And Another Thing....
This Makes Me Want To Ask And Curious About.
Is That The Kind Of Life Your Mom Is OK With Living. A Life With Someone That Is That Heavily Medicated For What Sounds Like The Reason For Him Taking The Medication Is Addiction.

She says he is a blabbering idiot, hardly anything he says makes sense. he's always nodding off and burning holes in his sheets, comforter, everything, we expect he'll catch the place on fire soon.
She lived with him for ten years, and finally couldn't put up with him anymore and threw him out two years ago, he's taking care of by the state and she's just his care giver now. She takes him to most of his doctor appointments and trys to tell the doctors what they're doing to him, but they're arrogant and tell her that they know what they're doing. I would think a person in that much pain would eat a .357 magnum.

They Had My Sister On Alot Of **** Like That No Quite That Much But Alot To The Point She Was Burning Holes In Things Falling Asleep Sitting Up You Know What I Mean We Reported The Dr To The Other DR In His Office And They Took Her Off Everything Except 1 Pain Medication And Then They Would Increase It For Along Time. That DR Has Never Overmedicated Her Again. If There Hadnt Been Another DR In His Office I Would Have Confronted Him Face To Face To See What He Would Say For Himself. Just A Suggestion.

Cats Meow ~ Wow! I think that is more medication than even an end stage terminal cancer patient would get. So sad that he is throwing his life away at such a young age and his doctors seem to be right on board. Probably the best step he could ever make would be to go to rehab and then turn around and sue the ******************** out of the drs. He would get a bundle but unfortunately he would probably just blow it all on drugs and end up right where he started!!

My goodness!! It is like a horror story. BTW I am surprised you Mom even wants to be a part of that anymore. I think she needs to say GOOD BYE !! How unhealthy for her to have to be a witness to someone commiting a slow and calculated suicide!!!!

You have, for sure, the record for the most medicated EVER!!!

I have a friend who is a care giver and she has to constantly call the ambulance on the lady she takes care of because she overdoeses thanks to the doctors who give her so many pills. It's impossible to watch someone 24/7.

I'm not sure the control a care giver has, but can't she seek a second opinion from another doctor, since she takes him to the appointments? Maybe get him on Wellbutrin, which can cut down on the smoking, instead of effexor? It seems as if the doctors are just masking a problem with a bunch of drugs instead of helping him.
