Default Alesse - birth control questions...

I just started taking Alesse. The doctor said to wear protection for two weeks after the beginning date of taking birth control. Is that every month or just the first month that I began taking it? Also, there are 21 pills and 7 placebos in the pack. I don't understand what happens if I don't get my period within those 21 days. Would it still be safe to have sex? If anyone could answer my questions, I would greatly appreciate it.

The protection is just for the first 2 weeks of starting a new birth control pill. And you shouldn't get your period during those 21 days - you should get it while you're taking the 7 placebos.
