Default Advice needed please Sleep/depression/anxiety

I have just begun taking Imovane for sleep which works all right (maybe 5-6 hours a night). I have tried Trazodone, remeron, Elavil as far as Antidepressants go.

I am thinking I need to get back on the antidepressant that DID work for me after my brother committed suicide. I was on Wellbutrin.

Question- Does it make sense to take Wellbutrin, which causes Insomnia and take something like Imovane to combat that, or just keep looking for an antipressant with sleep benefits. Those ones had horrible side effects, while the only side effect with Wellbutrin was the insomnia (and some weight loss).

What to do? need to make an appoinment soon.

Yes make an appointment asap. How do you feel????Are you depressed????Sleep problems can be one of the symptoms of depression and seeing that you've had a tradgity in your life then you quite likely are depressed.I really sorry for your loss. What about talking to a professional about how you're feeling.Physciatrist's can be very helpful,I know they have helped me earlier in my life. The main thing is to take care of yourself, I'm sure your brother would not want you to be sick over him.Good luck to you......Dave

I just returned from the Dr and he gave me samples of Wellbutrin XL to start today and will get a full prescription if all goes well. He said i can still use the Imovane at night. I can also still take valerian for anxiety if need be, because I dont want to get into the Benzos like valium or Ativan, although Im sure it would feel fabulous.

You are wize to stay away from the benzo's.They have their place but should only be used for 2 weeks max.Wellbutrin XR is a good anti-depressant and alot of patients say you get extra energy from them,I don't know if that's true but I have heard it quite often.Anyway, remember that anti-depressants take 3-4 weeks sometimes 6 weeks to really start doing anything so stick with it,ok..Good luck and let us know how your doing.....Dave
