Default adderall issues

Hey everyone, hope all is going well...

Ive just recently started on adderall about a month and a half ago, and things were; well are going great except for the fact that I find myself constantly upping the dosage because I just don’t feel any effects anymore, im not as focused nor am I motivated unless I take a dose every 2 to 3 hours, which causes me to run out of meds in a little over a week… then I end up going right back to my Doc for more (luckily he accommodates me…im starting to suspect not for much longer though) . Anyway I’m prescribed 20mg IR (XR is just to pricey for my budget) three times daily, however, I generally go through six a day in order to get a good eight to ten study period in (Im taking an accelerated summer chem. Class.. a lot of work). What I was wondering is if anyone knew of a way I can decrease tolerance without having to take a “drug Holiday,” I just have too much work to do for me to take that much time off. Ive been reading stuff online about how certain supplements may help but everyone has a different take on what and when to take supplements.. Can anyone who has actually done this provide me with some accurate info. I really appreciate all your time and help..

-Ghost

Hey ghost I think i might know whats going on because i had a similar problem. Remember this may be different than what you feel but it seems like you are ( involuntarily )getting high from the adderall and the high does not last very long thats maybe why you often redose. I am saying this because I was prescribed methylphenidate 54mg (concerta) and when I started taking it, for my first 2 periods i could concentrate amazingly and i had alot of energy to answer all the questions the teacher was asking. Then after about 1 1/2 hours it seemed like it simply stopped working. After about two weeks I realized i was getting high without knowing it. I thought that these drugs were miracle drugs that made school simple but although they in my opinion are, they aren't good enough to make concentrating in school as easy as it is to when you have a amphetamine high. What you may not realize is that the drug is still working but the effects are very subtle and you do not notice you are concentrating better. I would suggest you try not taking it for one day and see how you do then take the recomended dose and see if there is a difference. I really wish it was always as easy to concentrate as it was when i first started taking the drug because the drug basically did all the work for me but you have to understand that you too must put in the effort to concentrate. I hope this helped.

Thanks!
