Hello, as the title sugests, this is my 1st post. I dont know where to start sohere it goes. I have chronic headaches and take vicodin on a regular basis. My DR. of 3 yrs left my kaiser so i was stuck in limbo for about 2 weeks. Wel l, the 1st couple of days were fine as usual (im not afraid to say these wernt my 1st w/d's off vic.) and then my buddy told me he had some ms contin sr 60mg. Well i took 2 the 1st day (1 in morning and 1 b4 bed) but it wasnt doing anything for my pain. So me being a dumb @$% i started taking 3-3 1/2 a day (im not afraid to say i once had a problem with pills so i tought i knew what i was doing). Well this went on for about a week and a half or so until i got my script for vic refilled. All together i think i tool 12-15 total. I stopped cold turkey and got back on my reg schedule of vic. i started to W/D a little witch i knew would happen but i have this killer stomach ache that feels like i am on the brink of puking but wont come up and its scaring me. i never got anything like this with vic w/d and i am wondering if there is something to sooth my stomache. My question is this, are these W/D pains and if so when are they gonna stop. i can deal with the hot/cold spells but didnt think i was gonna be w/ding this hard off that little amount. Im on my 3rd day (always the hardest) and for 2 days ive had this stomach ache (yesterday i thought i was hung over but today its the same. Is it safe to cold turkey that amount or do i need to go to the dr? My Vics help my stomach a tiny tiny bit but not that much. needless to say, ill never touch those again. Any asap help on this subject would be greatly appreciated. Thanks and god bless.

I would never tell someone to NOT go to the dr. However I doubt seriously (only based on what you have said) that you have any symptoms that will last much longer, at least not from this episode you describe. You should be getting relief from the vics already. It shouldn't hurt to take something like pepto or alka-seltzer for an upset or geeking stomach. Nothing there that would hurt us.

Not making fun but it always cracks me up that we worry about abruptly stopping a drug or taking an over-the-counter medication after we have been abusing RX or other hardcore drugs. Don't feel like the lone ranger, I have done the same thing before too in ancient history. It's kind of silly though if you think about it. What isn't silly is taking RX medication in an amount that we have no knowledge about how it is going to truly affect us.

One thing you might consider. Vics are not really the best medicine to take for headaches. Headaches can actually be a side effect from taking too much vicodin. You say your dr has had you on vicodin for headaches. How long has this gone on if I may ask out of curiosity? Is that the only problem you have or is there another reason for the vicodin? I am thinking there could possibly be another reason for the vicodin?

Thank you for the reply Robert!!!! Ive been taking pepto and tums but no releif. The reason im on vic is cause my doc shot me up and perscribed everything under the sun and i get sick or they make the headaches worse. Ive never been a hardcore drug user (hardest drug is vic and pot). I use the vic to treat my headaches. They DO NOT take them away by any means but they provide temp releif and i was tired of being pumped full of drugs and getting sicker and sicker. Then they wanted me on percocet and i told them no cause ihad a friend climb the med ladder started with perc. Yes i do feel like an addict b/c i have to pop pills and i hate that but any time i go off em the headaches are to much to bare. im looking into an experimental surgury where they cut nerve ending in the back of ure neck that are strictly pain receptors. i don know what to do anymore. I know that taking that morphine was a bad idea but i did it anyway and i feel so ashamed. that is the 1st time ive takin anything over percocet and ive only taken 5 percs in my life. thanks again robert and any other info would be great. i certinly learned my lesson.

im pretty sure that was one of the 1st they tried cause my headaches were so sevire. i have a laundry list of migranine and headache meds and nothing. at this point im just treating the problem and not helping it cause no one knows whats going on. ive been to 4 specalists (2 outta state), 6 neurologists and a host of clinical studies and nothing. i dont know what to do

Zomig is the best headache/migraine medication I know of without getting into injections. Someone else may feel differently. But please realize that if your drs are considering a surgery and you have all these specialists working on this ... in all fairness you couldn't possibly expect us to know what to tell you on a forum. It's not even realistic.

I will try to make suggestions when reasonable but I would be doing a mis-service to you to start spouting off suggestions when you have drs in different parts of the country attempting to figure out the problem. We are not drs. This is a support forum and we can make suggestions. But you should really be dealing with your drs it seems to me. I don't personally know what else to say. I understand your frustration as I have been round and round with drs myself. I know how you feel and I wish I had an answer. Maybe someone else knows something but I think you would be taking unnecessary risks taking info on something like this from a forum and running with it. God bless.

Thks again robert.... seriously u have helped a great deal. I kinda got off subject and wasnt wanting to get answers from the forum about my headaches i was just givng you a back ground of whatsgoing on to help me with this stomche ache and if it was WDs....imma getoff my vics after i run out (famouslast words) (have 27 more) and i gotta go through moreWDs (i think i was off em for 2 weeks and was taking morphine andnow going through this.. i figure that ive pretty much gone thru the worst of em now i just gotta sweat out the vics for a couple days figuring i got 40 and ive taken 13 in 3 days for my migrine im going thru now. do you think theWDs are gonna be the same for the vics if ive ony got about 5 days of vics left. i can get my hands on some methidone 5mg from a friend but is that just as risky as the morphine ? Im tappering off the last of my meds and hope to god that i dont have to go through full WDs after this episode. Once again u have helped a great deal Robert and thank you so much. God bless.
