Glucosamine is derived primarily from the shells of shellfish, mainly shrimp and to a lesser extent crab.

If you have vegetarian/vegan concerns, it's worth noting that the label on my Quest brand chewable glucosamine tablets says they are free of animal products (I'm an animal rights girl so I always make note of these things).

It WORKS, too! I like to go jogging with my dog sometimes, and my knees used to be sore the day after. Now they don't get sore anymore! Also, my elbows and shoulders don't sound as "crunchy" when I weight train now.

Hello, I take glucosamine chondroitin for many years. I used to suffer from excruciating back pains, and was even prescribed stuff like mexotrexate, celebrex and vioxx. But once I started the glucosmine regimen, I have never had backaches anymore. I forgot all about my back, and have never taken any of those prescritions anymore! The stuff really works. But, but, since it works now we are paying top dollar for the stuff, it is really expensive. I am thinking of taking the drug shuttle to Canada.
