Recently a good friend of mine was able to get transfered from our local
Methadone clinic (where we both were patients. I still am) over to our local Pain Managment Clinic. At our Methadone clinic they prescribe 40mg Waffers made by Mallincrkodt stamped with Methadose (I am reading that is a Brand Name). They are these......
And then at the new place they prescribe real Methadone in 10mg Tablets.
They are these..........
This person is confused as at the
Methadone Clinic they were prescribed a split dose. 115mg's in the AM and 115mg's in the PM for a total of
230mg's per day.
Now at the
Pain Mngmnt Clinic they have been prescibed 40mg's (4 10mg's Tablets) 3 times per day for a total of
120mg's. This person has only been on this dose for 3-4 days now so it has really been hard to tell any difference and that also has been coupled with a Cold. They are just concerned in the difference in dosing.
Is 10mg's of a Methadone Tablet not the same as 10mg's of a Methadose Waffer?? It is essentially like there dose has been cut in half by this switch and could ONLY result in detox symptoms we are thinking VERY soon. Heck... this person has been on 230mg's a day of Methadose for over 6 years. They cant just up and cut the dose in half at this point I wouldnt think. Not this far in the game. I am just thinking 10mgs of Methadone is the same as 10mgs of Methadose. I just read that both are made by the same manufacturer. What is the truth here. Did the new Doctore just goof up?
Any advice and input is GREATLY Appriciated. I am also new to this forum and was not sure where to put this post. It is in 1 other area as well and I appoligize if that is inappropriate. Mods or Admins feel free to delete the misplaced one. Thanks Again!!!
