Hello - my 42 year old husband has just been diagnosed by our psychologist with adult ADHD. He is recommending 20mg Adderall and has instructed my husband to make an appointment with his physician to obtain a prescription.
This morning I've been reading about the side effects and dependency issues of amphetamines. I'm extremely nervous about him taking this drug. He works for a shipping company hauling and transferring jet fuel and home heating oil for two week shifts. He holds a Coast Guard license and is subject to random urine drug testing. I'm sure when he informs his employer that he is on a prescription medication for his disorder, it will be noted in his chart, but I worry about the side effects when he's working with heavy machinery on a six hour on/six hour off schedule.
Is this simply a recipe for disaster???
Thanks so much for your help.
