Ok.. I'm new to this site.. I've been steadily reading about the withdrawal effects of
Lexapro.. I'm pretty frustrated at this point.. I have been on lexapro for about 2 years I guess.. At first they put me on
Paxil, but I went off soon, and then ended up on Lexapro. I'm getting ready to ween myself off, and the advise I have read on this site is soo helpful. I do have a few questions. I notice alot of talk about Flockhart P 450 Cytochrome system, and drug interactions to
Melatonin,
Motrin, decongestants, etc. I am on the daily. I take melatonin to sleep, motrin almost every day for headaches, decongestants all the time, and I'm worried what I've been doing to my body. Can someone explain a little more in-depth?? Please!!! My prescription ran out of lexapro last week, and I ended up not taking it for 5 days, and now I realize all I went through during that time was withdrawal. Racing heart, out of sorts, nauseau, etc.. I went to my doc for an EKG for my heart, and when I told him I hadn't been on my lexapro, he immediately gave me a sample and said to get back on it. So.......if I go off gradually, am I going to feel like I did last week? It was awful. At the time I didn't put two and two together to realize it was withdrawal symptoms. Why is this stuff legal? Why are doctors putting their patients on it?? I recently started seeing a natural doctor (thank god for him), and I have adrenal fatigue, a messed up
thyroid, high cotrisol, totally out of what adrenaline.. I'm just a mess, and now I'm wondering if alot of this has to do with my lexapro?? I've gained 20 lbs in two years as well!! Sorry, I'm just venting, I'm soo frustrated with all this...

I'm on 10mg a day right now. How should I ween off? Should I break them in half for a week or so, then go off? Any suggestions I would greatly appreciate!! Thanks!
