Interactions between zyloprim(allopurinol) and Cyclosporine (cycloSPORINE)

Moderate Drug-Drug Interaction allopurinol and cycloSPORINE (Moderate Drug-Drug)

MONITOR: Concomitant administration of allopurinol may increase cyclosporine blood concentrations. The mechanism is unknown. The risk of cyclosporine-induced nephrotoxicity and neurotoxicity may be increased.

MANAGEMENT: Cyclosporine levels and renal function, including serum creatinine, should be carefully monitored. The dosage should be adjusted as needed. Patients should be advised to notify their physician if they experience nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, dizziness, fatigue, or headache.
