Interactions between zagam(sparfloxacin) and Azithromycin 3 day dose pack (azithromycin)
azithromycin and sparfloxacin (Major Drug-Drug)
CONTRAINDICATED: Sparfloxacin may cause dose-related prolongation of the QT interval in some patients. Coadministration with other agents that can prolong the QT interval may result in elevated risk of ventricular arrhythmias, including ventricular tachycardia and torsade de pointes, because of additive arrhythmogenic potential related to their effects on cardiac conduction. Torsade de pointes have been reported in a few patients receiving sparfloxacin alone and with antiarrhythmic agents like amiodarone and disopyramide.
MANAGEMENT: The use of sparfloxacin with any other medication that can prolong the QT interval (e.g., cisapride; class IA and class III antiarrhythmic agents; certain antipsychotics; certain antimalarial agents; tricyclic antidepressants) is considered contraindicated.
